Philemon: At the Table

“The church body is made to serve. There are so many ways that we often keep someone else from being a blessing to you, or from you being a blessing to them. Because we don’t talk about our needs, we don’t talk about the ways we could be a blessing, because we like to internalize and keep it to ourselves. So Paul is saying, putting it out there on the table, while I’m under house arrest, it would be great for you to be a blessing, for you to love Onesimus as a son. Paul says this with tenderheartedness and love, but with a firm hand.”
