Israel: Clinging to God in Brokenness
In Genesis 32, Jacob’s journey reaches a turning point. On his way to face Esau, the brother who once threatened his life, Jacob is forced to confront his deepest fears and his lifelong tendency to rely on his own strength. Alone in the night, he wrestles with the Lord and comes away broken, yet blessed. In that moment of surrender, Jacob confesses who he has been, and God gives him a new name: Israel.
This message reminds us that true transformation happens when we silence the noise, allow God to wrestle our flesh, and cling to Him in humility. Like Jacob, we are called to admit our weakness, let go of self-reliance, and hold fast to Jesus, the only one who can rename us, bless us, and make us a vessel for His presence.
